Presenter Bio:

Dermell Brunson was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and is a product of the Baltimore City Public School System, having graduated from the Baltimore School for the Arts as a Theater Major. His family, church, and community are directly influential in making him aware to the importance of leadership and service. Having served in the community since a teen, Dermell saw a need for continuous leadership development opportunities for youth. This need compelled further action toward service in that area. Dermell served for 10 years in the Mental Health & Foster Care systems for youth in Maryland.

Dr. Brunson is a Founder of Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center, Inc. (LTYC) a 501 (c3) non-profit organization (est. 2004), that develops social, academic, and artistic skills in youth through Performing & Creative Arts, life skills training, summer and after school programming. Through LTYC, Dr. Brunson facilitated a process to create partnerships with school systems and community organizations that provide relevant arts based programming for youth. LTYC is a cutting edge, 21st century leadership program that focuses on a young person’s strengths while building leadership skills through interpersonal relationship. While active in LTYC’s mission, Dr. Brunson took three years of personal time to develop a behavioral & mental health service effort founded in 2014 as Impacting Tomorrow Health Center Co. (ITHC). Dr. Brunson serves as President/Strategist of ITHC providing therapeutic counseling, vocational, and case management services with a consortium of Clinicians.

Dermell is committed to making meaningful contributions into the lives of people and serving in a way that makes finding solutions to challenges a simplistic process. He holds a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Counseling (w/ a concentration in Religion) and has served as a contributing member of the
Alumni Advisory Council for the Baltimore School for the Arts. Dermell is an active Alumni of Camp Dudley, of Westport, New York and a Rotary Club International member. He most recently has served as Executive Consultant for youth & family programs in Maryland, Las Vegas, Nevada and Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Brunson’s primary goal in life is to influence youth to make relevant decisions in their lives, to maximize their gifts & strengths and build stronger families.
